Past Perfect: nasıl kullanılır

Past Perfect (had + fiilin üçüncü hâli), geçmişteki bir eylemin başka bir geçmiş eylemden ya da andan önce olduğunu gösterir: When we arrived, the film had started. Sık sık when, by the time, already ve before ile, ayrıca dolaylı anlatımda ve üçüncü tip if cümlelerinde görülür. Sıra zaten açıksa Past Simple çoğu zaman yeterlidir.

Sık yapılan hatalar

   Yanlış: When I arrived, the train already left.

   Doğru: → When I arrived, the train had already left.

   Önceki eylem: had + üçüncü hâl.

2. 2

   Yanlış: I had went there before.

   Doğru: → I had gone there before.

   Üçüncü hâl gerekir: gone.

3. 3

   Yanlış: Yesterday I had visited my aunt.

   Doğru: → Yesterday I visited my aunt.

   Tek bir geçmiş olay: Past Simple.

4. 4

   Yanlış: If I knew, I would have told you.

   Doğru: → If I had known, I would have told you.

   Üçüncü tip if Past Perfect ister.
