Simple Past und Past Progressive: so funktioniert es

Das Past Progressive (was/were + -ing) beschreibt eine Handlung, die zu einem Zeitpunkt in der Vergangenheit im Gange war: At 8 pm I was cooking. Zusammen mit dem Simple Past zeigt es eine kürzere Handlung, die sie unterbricht: I was cooking when the phone rang. Das Simple Past allein erzählt abgeschlossene Ereignisse der Reihe nach: I cooked, ate and went to bed.
