Il periodo ipotetico (conditionals): come funziona
Il periodo ipotetico unisce una condizione introdotta da if e la sua conseguenza. Il tipo zero esprime verità generali (If you heat ice, it melts), il primo possibilità reali nel futuro (If it rains, we'll stay in), il secondo situazioni irreali nel presente (If I had time, I'd travel) e il terzo un passato irreale (If I'd known, I'd have come).
Primo o secondo tipo
| Primo: reale | Secondo: irreale |
|---|---|
| If I get the job, I'll move to Berlin. | If I got the job, I'd move to Berlin. |
| If it's sunny tomorrow, we'll go to the beach. | If it were sunny today, we'd go to the beach. |
| If you study, you'll pass. | If you studied, you'd pass. |
