There is et there are : comment ça marche
There is s'emploie avec un nom singulier ou indénombrable et there are avec un nom pluriel, pour dire qu'une chose existe ou se trouve quelque part : There's a park near my house. There are two banks on this street. À la forme interrogative, is ou are passe en tête (Is there a lift?), et on utilise any à la forme négative : There aren't any chairs.
